Artist Bio
Born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas, I began my career close to home. I attended the University of Kansas and received a BFA in metalsmithing and jewelry and a minor in art history. Following my graduation, I continued my education and received my MFA in metalsmithing and jewelry and MA in art education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, my work is focused on the exploration of fandoms and popular culture through the creation and photography of cosplay-based masks and hoods. My work has participated in local exhibitions including, Featured Student, Chalmers Room 300, Lawrence, KS, 46th Annual Smoky Hill art exhibition, Hays Arts Center in Hays, KS, and Art at the Center-Human Experience Abstracts, Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, Overland Park, KS and in national exhibitions such as STITCH: Contemporary Textile Art in Morehead, Ky, Needles and Thread in Ellensburg, WA, Fun House 2018: Art of Surreal, Fantastic and Bizarre in Barrett Art Center, Poughkeepsie, New York and FIERCE and FRAIL: Of Beings, Beasts, and Seed in Verum Ultimum Art, Portland, OR. I have won the choice award in the Art at the Center-Human Experience Abstracts exhibition and an honorary mention in the 46th Annual Smoky Hill art exhibition. My work has also been featured in publications such as the 2017 Metalsmith Magazine Exhibition in Print and SNAG’s Jewelry and Metals Survey (JAMS).
